PeachCare Petition Needs your Online Signature!

We need the help of our Georgia Leaders to help children in Georgia obtain the medical care they need.

Earlier this year, parents of children on Peach Care (Georgia's income-based affordable children's medicaid health insurance program) received notification that they would have to choose one of three CMO’s for continuance of their children's health coverage under the Peach Care program, and that these changes would be effective June 1, 2006.

Parents were told that they must choose one of the three CMO’s, or one would be assigned to their children.  Parents were actually prevented from obtaining information about medical services, pharmaceutical formulary, limitations and exclusions of the programs of Well Care, AmeriGroup and Peach State prior to the changeover, as the customer service lines for these three CMO’s did not open up until the changeover became effective on June 1, 2006.  Parents had no way to review this crucial information prior to the changeover, in order for them to make an educated decision regarding which of the three CMO’s would be most suitable for their children’s special needs.

Parents were told, “Medicaid and PeachCare members will continue to be eligible for the same services they receive today as well as new services.”  This has proven to be untrue, especially for the thousands of children that have medical issues that require specialist services.

We first need to let our Leaders be aware of this dilemma: Children across the state of Georgia that received medications and services for their particular medical conditions prior to the changeover on June 1 are now being denied some or all of their services and/or medications.

It is the hope that the results of this petition will reach those who lead our State and validate that people in Georgia care about this issue.   Those who sign also hope to inspire compassion in our Leaders to work toward resolution of this medical crisis that has disrupted and compromised the lives, health and care of Georgia's children.
